Hula Hoops and Big Hearts

It was as simple as saying "You should come to the babies home if you have some time and visit the kids. Georgia then proceeded in saying how she could build them hula hoops!! Out of the many talents and gifts that this young lady has, it was such a beautiful gesture. So it was as simple as that. On Monday Georgia, her dad Brian and I went to the market in Jinja and looked for supplies to build hula hoops. We found some great tubing, electrical tape and eventually glue to hold it all together. It was a labor of love and something that the children will always remember.

I asked Georgia later what she usually makes hula hoops out of and she said she had never made one before. During this whole process I thought that she was well trained this craft but no..she just thought it would be a wonderful gift and confidently moved forward with it. That is so amazing!! I believe that is what it's all about. Not waiting to figure out something that you can give and do...but stepping forward and figuring it out together..even if it's something you have never done before. That is what We Spread the Love is all about!

Christmas of 2012!

Our first real project for We Spread the Love was to bring Christmas to the Arise and Shine babies home in Jinja, Uganda. With all of your support through portrait sessions, buying items on our store, donations and coming to our Christmas event, we were able to purchase so many toys, art supplies, clothes, instruments for the children and every day items for the home. We even were able to purchase a refrigerator, stove and microwave! It's been amazing to see how much we were able to bless the children and staff so much!

We have to give a huge THANK YOU to Turkish Airlines. There was definitely no way we could have been able to travel with all of these gifts if it wasn't for them. They were so kind and generous to bless us with several free checked bags. Thank you Turkish Airlines for your beautiful hearts and for helping us spread the love!

Arise and Shine Uganda

If you have been to the We Spread the Love store then you have seen the amazing jewelry and bags of Arise and Shine Uganda.  Arise and Shine is such a beautiful organization. With a mission of building sustainable communities through quality education, there is SO much love to go around. Our good friend Sharon is the head of the whole organization. Arise and Shine has blossomed into something so beautiful because of her heart and she is constantly spreading love and joy on those around her. The fact that Arise and Shine is building communities with four amazing parts is proof. They offer employment and homes for around 55 people, children and adults in their babies home. The Arise and Shine school in the Kibuye village holds up to 200 children and offers education to local adults. They offer adult education and outreach to adults who need help and want to learn more to sustain a better life. Finally, they have the projects that help generate income and give back to Arise and Shine and the local community. You have seen The Beads Project and Tailoring Project and so many of you have been supporting them by purchasing necklaces or purses. Below are the products in our store coupled by some of the beautiful people of the Arise and Shine babies home in Jinja, Uganda.

Thank you for your support for Arise and Shine! Amazing things are happening because of this organization and lives are being changed forever. We Spread the Love is teaming up with AASU to bring art camps, sponsorships and art programs into the babies home and schools and that is why they mean so much to us!
